Job summary

Wabash is seeking a Welder Mechanic II to service, repair, and maintain tank trailers and containers. The role requires expertise in electrical systems, plumbing, welding, grinding, painting, and more, with supervision by the department supervisor.

The position involves climbing, bending, and working from elevated or low positions in a loud shop environment. Safety PPE and adherence to DOT/ASME standards are essential.

Qualifications

• Repair and service electrical wiring and plumbing on tanks and containers.
• Perform structural repairs including framing, fenders, suspension, insulation.
• Execute final cleanup: sandblasting, priming, painting, decals, plates and fenders.
• Grind, polish, and patch tanks and bottles.
• MIG/TIG welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel.
• Fabricate metal parts from blueprints and drawings.
• Move trailers safely in/out of the shop.
• Conduct plumbing inspections and repairs on tanks.
• Troubleshoot and repair trailer bodies.
• Test repaired tanks and trailers for safety.
• Ensure compliance with DOT and ASME standards.
• Preferred: experience as Registered Inspector.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Maintain a clean organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Work at heights, in loud environments, and around welding fumes and grinding dust.
