Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Welder III to perform advanced welding operations on large, complex locomotive components and to build expertise in multiple welding processes. You will read technical drawings, follow welding procedures, and help ensure high-quality repairs aligned with AWS standards.

The role requires strong accuracy, safety compliance, and the ability to train and mentor less experienced welders while supporting production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux-Core welding processes.
• Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and WPS.
• Minimum five years welding experience for external candidates.
• Two years welding experience for internal candidates with Level I/II training.
• Pass welder qualification tests per AWS D15.1.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced welding operations on large and complex components.
• Plan welding sequences and regulate heat, current, voltage, and feed.
• Perform weld build-up repairs and high-pressure welding.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and instructions.
• Align, fit, and weld components with dimensional accuracy.
• Inspect welds and correct defects; train less experienced welders.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
• Support cross-training across production areas.
