Job summary

NABRICO Marine Products in Ashland City, TN is seeking a safety-focused Senior Welder to perform FCAW and SMAW on barge components used in inland marine transportation. You will read welding symbols, follow Welding Procedure Specifications, and produce consistent, high-quality welds with a strong safety mindset.

This role requires passing weld tests (1F–4F fillets and related tests), wearing PPE, and collaborating with supervisors and fitters.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year FCAW experience.
• Must be able to pass respirator fit testing without facial hair obstructing seal.
• Must pass flat fillet (2F), vertical fillet (3F), and overhead fillet (4F) FCAW weld tests.
• Must be able to read welding symbols, weld sizes, and quality acceptance criteria.
• Ability to read and follow welding procedures and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform FCAW and/or SMAW in accordance with Welding Procedure Specifications.
• Complete flat (1F), horizontal (2F), vertical (3F), and overhead (4F) fillet welds with consistency and no defects.
• Inspect completed welds for quality and conformance to specifications.

What You’ll Do

• Perform FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) and/or SMAW (Stick Welding) in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Successfully complete and perform flat (1F), horizontal (2F), vertical (3F), and overhead (4F) fillet welds.
• Perform testing with minimal instruction
• Full knowledge of 5/16 weld
• Consistent welds without defects
• Read and interpret welding symbols, weld sizes, and quality requirements.
• Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Safely operate welding equipment and maintain a clean work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities as needed.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, fitters, and other production team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• Minimum of one (1) year of FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) experience.
• This position requires the use of a tight-fitting respirator. Employees must be able to successfully complete the required respirator fit testing and maintain a facial-hair condition that permits an adequate seal when the respirator is required.
• Ability to successfully pass a flat fillet (2F), vertical fillet (3F) and overhead fillet (4F) FCAW, vertical groove (3G) and overhead groove (4G) FCAW weld test.
• Successfully complete and perform flat (1F), horizontal (2F), vertical (3F), and overhead (4F) fillet welds.
• Perform testing with minimal instruction

• Knowledge of weld symbols, weld sizing requirements, and quality acceptance criteria.
• Ability to read and follow welding procedures and work instructions.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to perform welding duties while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators as needed.
• Ability to work at heights of 15 feet or more when required.
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas.
• Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, walk, and stand throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays based on production needs.
• Ability to accurately follow work instructions, supervisor direction, blueprints, and established procedures to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
