Job summary

Scion Technology Staffing is seeking a Principal Staff Engineer, Web Platform in a hybrid role based in Calabasas, CA. You will lead hands-on, end-to-end development and operations for a high-traffic ecommerce web platform built on LAMP and AWS, collaborating with offshore teams to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability.

The role emphasizes architectural leadership, incident response, and cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and executive leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience building and operating large-scale web applications.
• Strong AWS & Cloud Operations Expertise: EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, networking, monitoring.
• Ecommerce & High-Traffic Website Experience, with emphasis on uptime and performance.
• Production Troubleshooting Expertise under pressure, including outages and degraded performance.
• Global Team Collaboration with offshore or distributed teams.
• Engineering Best Practices: Git workflows, CI/CD, testing, observability, code reviews, secure development.
• Ownership Mentality: self-directed, able to own initiatives end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Platform Engineering: design, develop, and maintain scalable features and services across a LAMP-based ecommerce platform.
• Production Operations & Incident Response: escalate, troubleshoot, and drive root cause analysis and stability improvements.
• AWS Infrastructure Ownership: manage deployment architecture, scaling, observability, security, disaster recovery, cost optimization.
• High-Scale Performance Optimization: improve uptime, latency, and resilience across systems.
• Cross-Functional Technical Leadership: partner with Product, Design, Operations, and Customer Experience teams.
• Global Engineering Collaboration: coordinate with China-based team, code reviews, releases, and communication.
• Code Quality & Engineering Standards: drive testing, observability, documentation, and best practices.
• Technical Mentorship & Leadership: provide guidance across the engineering organization.
