Job summary

Bishop O'Connell High School in Arlington, VA, is seeking a Senior Communications Associate to serve as the lead content editor of the school's website and writer.

The Senior Communications Associate reports to the Director of Communications and partners closely with the Digital Media Associate on social and multimedia content collaborating across departments to ensure communications products reflect Bishop O'Connell's mission and Catholic identity.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in communications or public relations, preferably in education or faith-based setting.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing websites and social media accounts; photography and video editing preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with administration, faculty, staff, and community.
• Discretion handling sensitive information with professionalism.
• Creative storyteller with attention to detail and the ability to craft compelling narratives.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding Catholic values and commitment to promoting the Catholic mission of the school.

Responsibilities

• Own the school website: updates, navigation, content organization, and accuracy.
• Write, edit, and publish news stories, features, event recaps, and time-sensitive updates to the site.
• Proofread and edit outgoing school communications for grammar, clarity, tone, and adherence to style guides.
• Serve as a secondary editor on major publications, advertisements, and other collateral.
• Collaborate with the Director of Communications on website redesigns or platform changes and align web and social content.
