Senior Web Compatibility Engineer role focused on ensuring DuckDuckGo webpages work reliably across Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android in a remote-first team. You’ll own triage for webcompat, debug intricate breakages, and ship durable fixes for multiple platforms, with emphasis on reducing user churn and improving experience.

Requirements include 7+ years building complex web apps with vanilla JavaScript, strong browser API knowledge, and the ability to reverse‑engineer obfuscated third‑party code.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and debugging complex web applications with vanilla JavaScript.
• Detailed knowledge of web standards, web components, and browser APIs.
• Bonus: experience with Swift/Kotlin/C#/C++/Python.
• Ability to reverse-engineer obfuscated third-party code and create minimal test cases.
• Experience triaging issues and leading incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own the webcompat side of the triage process and lead when a top site breaks.
• Debug complex issues in code you don’t control and distinguish site bugs from browser or privacy-related breakage.
• Ship durable fixes across all platforms and reduce user churn.
• Lead complex, ambiguous projects with minimal oversight.
