Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Senior Water / Wastewater Project Manager for the New England Area Water Team. Hybrid work options allow placement in any New England office, including Manchester, NH, with emphasis on managing municipal water/wastewater projects through full lifecycle.

The role involves technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring staff, in a collaborative, growth-focused environment that values inclusion and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental/chemical engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of related experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage water and/or wastewater projects for municipal clients from planning to construction.
  • Lead scoping activities, proposals, and client presentations.
  • Make technical, cost, and scheduling decisions with QA/QC and risk management.
  • Mentor staff and develop technical capabilities across the team.
  • Maintain and grow client relationships through quality delivery and collaboration.

Step Into Your New Role

As a Senior Water / Wastewater Project Manager joining our New England Area Water Team, you will support our growing water resources market in New England through the successful management of our water and/or wastewater projects. This candidate will work in our team-oriented environment, primarily providing municipal clients with professional engineering services that cover the lifecycle of the project, including planning, design, construction documents, public bidding and construction administration. The majority of our team enjoys a hybrid schedule, which allows us to offer this role in any of our New England offices: Boston, MA; Springfield, MA; Worcester, MA; Rocky Hill, CT; Portland, ME; or Manchester, NH offices.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
  • Successfully manage projects for water and/or wastewater clients both new and long-term, supported by talented project teams of engineers, scientists, and planners to deliver a full range of water‑related engineering services that include complex, multi‑disciplinary projects through planning, design and construction.
  • Participate in technical/project scoping activities and proposal presentations with targeted clients.
  • Lead and participate in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions, adhering to company quality standards (including internal quality control and risk management protocols such as peer reviews), and driving customer value.
  • Mentor the technical development of staff to encourage professional growth and development.
  • Foster existing client relationships through quality and interpersonal skills. Aim to network and build new client relationships.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Strong technical expertise, specifically in municipal water and/or wastewater engineering and be fully capable of providing technical leadership and direction to project teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and technical writing skills.
  • Candidates with a Professional Engineering Registration are preferred.

Massachusetts: The expected salary range for the position is displayedin accordance withthe Massachusetts Wage Transparency Act. Finalagreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.Salary range: $116,000 - $197,000.
