Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor seeks an experienced Water Treatment and Reclamation (WTR) engineer to lead UPW system projects and improvements on our fab campus. You will oversee project management, commissioning activities, and collaborate with operations to enhance reliability and safety.

The role requires a BS in engineering and 6+ years' experience in water treatment, with advanced knowledge of ultrapure water systems. On-site, full-time, with a competitive base salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Process or Industrial Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in an engineering environment, preferably Design or Operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes.
• Advanced knowledge of ultrapure water treatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Project management of multiple UPW system projects.
• Lead commissioning activities and provide SME support to contractors and internal teams.
• Monitor daily trends, inspect equipment, and coordinate with OPS for work orders and improvements.
• Support plant operations in developing and implementing process improvements.
• Own and oversee the entire UPW system scope and projects.
• Troubleshoot critical UPW system issues and baseline shifts.
• Research and develop new technologies to improve UPW quality and reliability.
• Support instrumentation, maintenance, and operations teams in day-to-day tasks.
• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to develop their skills.
• Lead cross-functional task-forces to improve practices and processes.
• Present in facilities-wide meetings and drive system-wide improvements.

Position Summary

Guided by a belief in extensive data analysis and a commitment to collaborative global relationships, the WTR (Water Treatment and Reclamation) is responsible for providing continuous, safe and high quality utilities to our Fab. At our water and wastewater plants on the Samsung Semiconductor campus, our Operations teams’ drive for sustainability and operational excellence is balanced by our need to adopt tomorrow’s technologies to ensure plant resilience, environmental stewardship, and the safety of our staff.

Role and Responsibilities

• Complete project management of multiple projects across the UPW systems.
• Participates and leads some of the commissioning activities, and provides subject matter expertise to contractors and the internal team for any commissioning or construction related issues.
• Monitor daily trends, perform equipment inspections, and coordinate with OPS regarding work orders and process improvement projects.
• Meet the needs of our operators by supporting and collaborating with the plant operations team to develop and implement process improvements.
• Execute complete ownership and accountability of the entire system scope and projects.
• Proactively troubleshoot critical UPW system issues and/or baseline shifts.
• Research and develop new innovative technologies to improve UPW quality and reliability; plan, request and implement improvements.
• Support of instrumentation, maintenance, and operations groups in day-to-day tasks.
• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers to develop their knowledge, talent and skills.
• Lead facilities wide task-force teams to develop more efficient practices and processes.
• Be a visible presence in facilities wide meetings.
• Creation and development of structured step plans process for work execution of process improvement and repair work.
• Review SOPs, PLC programming changes, SOOs (sequence of operations), and other administrative task.
• Lead system-wide trend analysis and use that analysis to drive system improvements.

Skills and Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Process or Industrial Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in an Engineering environment, preferably within Design or Operations.
• Working knowledge of general water treatment technologies and/or processes.
• Advanced knowledge of ultrapure water treatment systems.

Salary and Compensation

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
