Job summary

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) seeks a Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer with 8+ years to lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater projects from our Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Greenville, SC; Nashville, TN; and Savannah, GA offices. You will guide teams, pursue innovative and sustainable solutions, and strengthen critical infrastructure for communities.

Responsibilities include process modeling, hydraulic analyses, PFDs and P&IDs; design of activated sludge, BNR, MBR, filtration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited). Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or related field is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required; BCEE certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in water and/or wastewater engineering, ideally within a consulting or design environment.
  • Strong background in treatment process design and optimization for municipal or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency with process modeling and design software (e.g., BioWin, GPS-X, WaterCAD, AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Solid understanding of PFDs, P&IDs, and overall system design principles.
  • Experience with treatment technologies including activated sludge, BNR, MBR, filtration, disinfection, RO, and biosolids.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills; ability to guide teams, manage budgets and schedules.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to water and wastewater systems.
  • Self-driven and detail-oriented with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as AWWA or WEF is a plus.

  • Participate in site visits during design, construction, and start-up to support performance optimization and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities and Skills
