Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental/mechanical/chemical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of water/wastewater industry experience.
• PE license in NY or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Masters degree and 15+ years of related experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct development of water and wastewater projects in the White Plains/NYC region.
• Utilize knowledge of water distribution systems, wastewater collection, pump stations, and treatment facilities to deliver projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage project teams to meet deliverables and client expectations.
• Engage with clients to determine needs and grow key client relationships.
• Manage project budgets and schedules; support marketing and proposal efforts with scope and budgets.
• Travel as needed for client meetings and site visits.

Role description

We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Resilience Water team in White Plains, NY. As a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge for design and construction to execute a variety of water and wastewater projects. You will also manage design teams and mentor junior engineers. You will be a critical team member and be expected to ensure business performance metrics are being met. You will also be responsible for Client Management/Development strategy in the White Plains, NYC region.

This role sits within our global business area of Resilience. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent.

This is a hybrid position with an in-office expectation of 2-3 days a week.

Role accountabilities

As a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer, you will lead and direct the development of water and wastewater projects. You will utilize your knowledge of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, pump/lift stations, and water/wastewater treatment facility engineering to successfully deliver projects and meet client expectations.

• You will lead projects and clients in the planning, design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment plants, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations as well as creating construction documents, project specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration.
• Provide technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as a design leader, QA/QC reviewer, or technical advisor.
• Engage directly with clients to determine needs and deliver solutions and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients.
• Manage a range of projects for various clients in the region. Responsibilities will include managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, and leading project teams to meet the project deliverables.
• Support the work of others and mentoring junior-level engineers & design/drafting technical staff.
• Lead/support teams in the marketing and proposal phases of projects including preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations, as well as developing scopes of work and budgets for various water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
• Travel, as needed, for client meetings, project site visits, etc.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field
• PE license in New York and/or in other nearby states (or ability to obtain PE within 6 months)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Engineering
• 15 years of industry-related experience

Salary range: $140,000 - $180,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
