Job summary

The Desert Research Institute’s Division of Hydrologic Sciences in Las Vegas seeks an Associate Research Professor to lead an externally funded team focused on developing and applying hydrologic and hydraulic models for surface and subsurface water movement. The role emphasizes building a research group in Southern Nevada and collaborating with NSHE and external partners.

Required are a Ph.D. in a related field and a minimum of 10 years’ experience, plus strong leadership, publishing, and grants

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Hydrology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience closely related to the duties of this position.
• In-depth experience in at least one water resources modeling approach and general familiarity with others.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with experience mentoring students and junior faculty.
• Track record of producing collaborative technical reports and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
• Proven success in writing competitive research grants and managing grants/contracts.
