Job summary

Desert Research Institute (DRI) seeks an innovative scientist with a strong background in hydrology, modeling, programming, and GIS. The role supports collaborative research and development of hydrologic models and flood inundation tools with national partners. You will help prepare grant proposals and contribute to scholarly outputs.

The position is based in Reno or Las Vegas, NV, with opportunities for collaboration across campuses and with NSHE partners.

Qualifications

• PhD from an accredited institution in a relevant field with interdisciplinary background.
• Experience with hydrologic and/or flood inundation model development.
• Experience with scientific programming and GIS software.
• Experience publishing in peer reviewed literature.

Responsibilities

• Support development of hydrologic models and flood inundation tools in a collaborative program.
• Participate in grant writing and proposal development.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on research projects.
