Job summary

Confidential Employer in Central Connecticut seeks a Water Resources Engineer with 5+ years of experience to lead hydraulics and water resources design for municipal, state, and federally funded projects.

You will perform hydrologic analyses, develop stormwater solutions, and prepare design documents while collaborating with project managers, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or closely related field.
• 5+ years of water resources eng experience with hydrology/hydraulics.
• Experience preparing hydraulic analyses and technical design documentation.
• Proficiency with water resources software such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HY-8, StormCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic engineering and water resources design for municipal, state, and federally funded infrastructure projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including river and bridge hydraulics, scour evaluations, flood studies, and drainage assessments.
• Develop stormwater management solutions and model storm and sanitary sewers.

• Support project planning, construction administration, and the development of junior engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional water resources engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Strong experience in hydrology and hydraulics, drainage design, flood studies, or stormwater management.
• Experience preparing hydraulic analyses, engineering calculations, and technical design documentation.
• Proficiency with relevant engineering software such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HY-8, StormCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or Bentley MicroStation is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, particularly Connecticut licensure, but not required.
• Experience with municipal infrastructure, transportation projects, bridge hydraulics, or environmental permitting is a plus.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage technical responsibilities independently.
