Job summary

Pennoni is seeking a Water Resource Engineer to join the Newark, DE office in our Water Resources group. You will support transportation projects through hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, stormwater design, flood studies, and related analyses, working on diverse client projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The role requires a BSCE and a PE, with 5+ years of experience in water resources and strong technical writing skills. Prior DelDOT/MDSHA/VDOT/PennDOT project exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• BSCE required; PE license required.
• 5+ years of work experience in water resources engineering.
• Experience with H&H modeling and design of water resources projects.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Experience with state DOT design criteria (DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, DCDOT, PennDOT preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead/Support H&H, ES&C, drainage and SWM tasks for bridge and highway projects in the Mid-Atlantic region, focusing on Delaware and surrounding states.
• Develop plans, technical reports and specifications.
• Mentor younger staff.
• Interact with clients and opportunities to perform project management.
• Engage in diversified projects and assignments with multiple clients.

Job Responsibilities

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking a Water Resource Engineer with the following job responsibilities:

• Lead/Support H&H, ES&C, drainage and SWM tasks associated with bridge replacement and highway improvement projects for multiple clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with a focus in Delaware and the surrounding states.


• Develop plans, technical reports and specifications.


• Mentor younger staff


• Interact with clients with opportunities to perform project management if desired.


• This position will offer diversified projects and assignments with different clients.

Required Attributes

• PE


• Required Education: BSCE


• Years of work experience: > 5 years.


• Experience in hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) modeling and design of a range of water resources projects including culvert/bridge rehab and or replacement, stream restoration, drainage, stormwater management.


• Strong technical writing and communication skills


• Experience with state DOT design criteria. Preferred prior project experience with DelDOT, MDSHA, VDOT, DCDOT, and/or PennDOT projects.


• Essential H&H Software Tools: Bentley Software (OpenRoads Designer), ArcGIS, HY-8, HEC-RAS, WinTR-55, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, SMS/SRH2D

Preferred Attributes

• Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Water Resources Engineering


• Strong leadership qualities and desire to mentor entry level engineers.


• Comfort interacting with clients


• A strongly motivated individual with the ability to work on multiple concurrent assignments while serving multiple roles within a team environment.


• Interacting in the engineering community via leadership positions in professional societies is preferred and encouraged.
