Job description

ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Watch Officer to join our team in Stennis, MS.

The NOSC Senior Watch Officer leads all Watch Operations and oversees 24/7 real-time network operations, cybersecurity incidents, and critical IT service disruptions to ensure mission continuity. They coordinate response efforts, provide situational awareness to leadership, and manage operational workflows to enhance security posture and resilience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Lead and manage the watch operations team during assigned shifts, ensuring continuous monitoring and protection of DHS networks; Train and mentor junior watch officers, ensuring they are proficient in their roles.
  2. Coordinate and oversee incident response activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution; Prepare and submit detailed incident reports and other documentation as required.
  3. Maintain situational awareness of all security events and incidents, providing updates and briefings to senior management.
  4. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for watch operations.
  5. Conduct regular shift briefings and debriefings to ensure smooth handover between shifts.
  6. Analyze security incidents and trends, providing recommendations for improvement.
  7. Collaborate with other NOSC teams and external stakeholders to enhance overall security posture.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations and a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field of study.
  2. 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role.
  3. Strong understanding of network protocols, security tools, and incident response processes.
  4. Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Relevant certifications, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
  2. Experience working in a government or defense environment, preferably DHS.
  3. Knowledge of broader cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
Clearance Requirements:
  1. Must have a current/active secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
  2. The ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD suitability is required prior to starting this position.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Must be able to work in an office environment and maneuver in data center and other IT equipment installation locations.
