Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Lead Wastewater Operator in Southbridge, MA. This role leads a team in operating and maintaining a wastewater treatment plant, directing tasks, and training staff to ensure safe and compliant operations.

You will monitor processes, review data, perform lab testing, adjust controls, and generate reports while coordinating with maintenance. Compliance with MA licensing and on-call requirements is essential, with onsite work and a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• Must have Massachusetts Wastewater Operator License Grade V or above
• Four (4) plus years of experience operating wastewater treatment plants
• Experience leading teams and assigning work to ensure regulatory compliance
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Proficient in plant SCADA systems and software
• Experience with DMS and CMMS
• Experience collecting regulatory and process control samples, reviewing sample results and understanding trends
• Hands-on experience with basic maintenance activities in coordination with local maintenance team
• Must possess a MA driver’s license
• Must participate in rotating on-call and weekend schedule
• Must work some holidays

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly meetings, scheduling and directing tasks, assigning and training team members
• Proactively monitor processes, review data and generate reports
• Perform preventive maintenance and establish sample procedures for plant operations and water quality
• Diagnose operating problems and implement corrective actions
• Prepare reports and sample analyses, maintain shift logs
• Ensure safety and health of team and operations
• Support clients in operating wastewater treatment services effectively
• Onsite collaboration with maintenance and operations teams
