Job summary

American Water Works Association is seeking a Senior Engineer in Wastewater Planning to perform advanced engineering analyses, develop hydraulic models, and lead master planning efforts for wastewater systems in Charlotte, NC.

The role requires extensive consultation with internal/external stakeholders and acts as a subject matter expert in wastewater operations, assessments, and modeling. PE license is preferred and leadership experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (accredited school).
• Five years of related work experience in planning, design, or technical areas.
• PE license preferred or required.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develops and reviews hydraulic modeling and planning studies.
• Lead wastewater system assessments and master planning.
• Oversee compliance of project management activities (contracts, invoices, payments).
• Supervise field staff for monitoring and capacity analyses.
• Create maps and tools in ArcGIS Pro and train others.
• Prepare and distribute regulatory and voluntary reporting.
