Job summary

Citigroup's Leveraged Finance Underwriting (LFU) team in New York seeks a Vice President/Underwriter to lead and drive best-in-class transaction underwriting, enhancing Citi's end-to-end credit management for leveraged lending.

The VP will collaborate with Analysts, Associates and Senior Underwriters across origination, credit approval, monitoring and portfolio management, coordinating with Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Risk to ensure proper documentation and governance.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years relevant leveraged lending underwriting experience
• Proven analytical skills including the ability to read and assess financial statements, cash flow, industry/competitive analysis and projections
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of accounting theory and its practical application in credit underwriting
• Excellent organizational skills, prioritizing capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to complete assignments in a fast-paced environment
• Effective inter-personal and written/verbal communication skills
• Pro-active disposition with ability to work autonomously and within a team

Responsibilities

• Oversee and provide critical support across LFU's core functions: origination and credit approval; monitoring; portfolio management and early problem recognition
• Understand clients' business and financial performance and key credit drivers across industries
• Review models used for enterprise valuation and forecast performance and explain assumptions to senior staff
• Supervise Analysts and Associates, coordinating with LFU Mumbai on periodic reviews
• Interact with product partners in Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Risk, and Legal to ensure deals are properly documented and approved
• Mentor LFU junior team members
• Analyze business rationale for deals and provide senior management with portfolio reviews and market trends
• Develop governance framework for credit underwriting end-to-end processes
• Stay current on Leveraged Lending market trends and issues
