Job summary

Defense Engineering Inc. seeks a Senior Virtualization/Storage Engineer to deploy and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter, and VDI components across sites. You will design scalable storage architectures and develop roadmaps aligned to mission growth, ensuring security per DISA STIG.

Mentoring junior admins and documenting architecture will be part of your responsibilities. The role requires a Bachelor’s with 8 years (or Master’s with 6) of relevant experience, and the ability to obtain TS/SCI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 8 years of related experience, or Master’s with 6 years.
• Ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance; Secret/Top Secret considered.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and maintain VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server across multiple sites.
• Design scalable storage architectures for on-premises and cloud environments.
• Develop engineering roadmaps aligned to mission requirements and capacity growth.
• Configure Omnissa VDI components including brokers, gateways, and load balancing.
• Lead hardening efforts to meet DISA STIG and DoD security requirements.
• Provide performance tuning and optimization for VDI environments.
• Maintain and patch virtual infrastructure to ensure security and reliability.
• Troubleshoot VMware virtualization issues and mentor junior staff.
• Document virtualization architecture, processes, and procedures.
• Evaluate emerging VMware and storage solutions to optimize performance.
• Support projects to enhance security, efficiency, or capability of the virtualized environment.
