Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Vision Engineer in Raleigh, NC for a full-time role focused on advancing commercial vision systems and production software performance in the agricultural technology and automation space.

The position emphasizes bridging research and commercialization through computer vision, ML solutions, and collaborative development with engineering, product, and operations teams. On-site work required with domestic travel for field support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience with Python and C#.
• Hands-on experience building computer vision, image processing, or ML applications in commercial environments.
• Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MSSQL) and Azure cloud.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate findings into actionable business recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain deployed vision software for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations to build tools leveraging existing architecture.
• Analyze commercial data to identify product enhancements and new tech initiatives.
• Validate performance via testing, data analysis, and QA to ensure accuracy.
• Provide field support for deployed systems, including occasional customer travel.
