Job summary

GCyber seeks a Senior Virtualization Engineer to lead design, deployment, and optimization of the enterprise virtualization and VDI environment for a mission-critical federal customer. You will coordinate with systems, storage, networking, and cybersecurity teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive modernization initiatives onsite.

Candidate must have active TS/SCI clearance, DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II, and 7+ years of virtualization experience in a large complex IT environment.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Current DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification.
• 7+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience including virtualization, servers, storage, and networking.
• Experience designing and supporting highly available virtualization platforms in a large, secure environment.
• Extensive experience administering VMware vSphere and Horizon.
• Experience with VMware vSAN.
• PowerShell/PowerCLI automation experience.
• Strong networking knowledge and VDI integration.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own health, performance, security, and lifecycle management of the enterprise virtualization environment.
• Design, implement, administer, and optimize VMware virtualization and VDI environments.
• Build and maintain highly available virtualization clusters for mission-critical workloads.
• Lead modernization, hardware refreshes, platform upgrades, and migrations with minimal disruption.
• Install, configure, integrate, and support enterprise server hardware and virtualization infrastructure.
• Develop testing strategies, validate changes, and document results.
• Troubleshoot complex virtualization, storage, networking, and VDI issues.
• Support operations across multiple locations and networks.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, storage, and cybersecurity teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Lead special projects to improve reliability, scalability, automation, and efficiency.
