IPG Photonics Corporation seeks a Senior Virtual Solutions Engineer in Davenport, IA to guide complex automation projects and validate designs with advanced simulation tools. The role involves off-line robot programming and collaborating with Sales, Process Engineering, and Project Teams to improve manufacturability and performance.

Ideal candidate has 10+ years in laser and welding systems, SolidWorks, and off-line programming software, with strong communication and project leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Four-year engineering degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Ten or more years of relevant professional experience.
• Advanced knowledge of laser equipment, processes, and applications.
• Advanced knowledge of arc welding equipment, processes, and applications.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks.
• Advanced knowledge of simulation / off-line programming software.
• Robot-specific off-line programming software (RoboGuide, KukaSim, MotoSim).

Responsibilities

• Handle the most complex and large-scale automation projects.
• Provide training, guidance and oversight to VSEs.
• Support efforts of Sales, Process Engineering, and Project Teams.
• Review and provide input to customer proposals when requested.
• Generate new solution layouts or continue development of solutions created during quoting.
• Validate solutions through simulation to minimize uncertainty and risk.
• Direct Mechanical Design and Tool Design in implementing validated layouts.
• Review integrated System and Tool Design for reach and access.
• Create virtual work cells and Off-line Robot Programs when requested.
• Become proficient with 3D printer and Insight software.
• Perform other related work and special projects.
