Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Senior Advisor to develop strategies and experiments for eliminating viral contaminants in downstream processes, supporting clinical and commercial development of bioproducts. The role emphasizes leveraging AI and automation to increase efficiency and working with external partners to drive innovation.

The candidate will lead Virology efforts on CMC teams, author regulatory documents, and ensure GMP-compliant workflows, including developing NGS sequencing for adventitious

Qualifications

• PhD in Virology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Veterinary Medicine, or related field.
• 2-5 years' pharmaceutical industry experience including CMC.
• Broad knowledge of Virology and Molecular Biology principles including cell-based/qPCR-based titration methods for human and/or animal viruses and NGS.
• Experience with tissue culture assay development and virus infection and virus purification.

Responsibilities

• Develop biosafety strategies for mammalian cell culture bioproducts and gene therapy molecules.
• Design and execute virus infection assays for new modalities.
• Archive viral safety data for AI-assisted retrieval.
• Collaborate with external partners and CMOs; manage outsourced activities for quality and on-time delivery.
• Lead cross-functional process development teams and collaborate with Bioprocess and Bioproduct Development, Discovery, MS&T and Manufacturing.
