Job summary

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) seeks a Virginia Licensed Surveyor to join our Survey practice in Richmond or Northern Virginia. You will lead survey projects, mentor staff, and build client relationships within an employee-owned firm.

The role offers leadership opportunities, mentorship, and growth in a flexible hybrid environment while contributing to significant transportation and infrastructure projects in the Mid-Atlantic.

Qualifications

• Virginia LS with 5+ years of surveying experience.
• Experience with Topographic, Boundary, Right-of-Way, and Utility surveys.
• Experience complying with VDOT Survey Standards and CAD Standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Leadership experience or a desire to grow into a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Manage survey projects from proposal to final delivery.
• Supervise and mentor field crews, office staff, and project team.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, budgets, and deliverables.
• Lead project kickoff meetings with clients and engineers.
• Develop work plans, procedures, and quality standards.
• Oversee Topographic, Boundary, Right-of-Way, and Utility surveys.
• Ensure compliance with VDOT standards.
• Review field data and deliverables for QA/QC.
• Develop client relationships and support business growth.
• Collaborate with transportation and infrastructure teams.
• Identify and resolve project challenges.
• Support growth of AMT's Survey practice.
