Job summary

The Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk Inc. is seeking a Senior Outreach Worker to lead street outreach in targeted communities and to prevent violent crime through nonviolent crisis resolution.

This role requires knowledge of local conflicts and the ability to coordinate with police and community partners to support at-risk residents. Responsibilities include providing case management, linking clients to services, and ensuring culturally appropriate interventions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or relevant experience with the target population.
• Experience with Proven/High risk populations.
• Ability to work on a diverse team.
• Conflict resolution skills.
• Willingness to work on the street and in unstructured situations.
• Time management and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct street outreach to prevent violent crime and interrupt potential violence.
• Coordinate outreach violence prevention with local police to maintain safe environments.
• Provide case management and linkage to collaborating agencies.
• Implement violence prevention models and interventions for high-risk populations.
• Ensure services are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
• Maintain client files, program reports, and data accuracy.
• Participate in Violence Prevention Coordinating Council and Outreach services.
• Be trained in neighborhood violence prevention models.
• Reflect the target population in program delivery.
• Maintain a nonviolent lifestyle.
• Respond to crises with 24/7 on-call readiness for violence-related incidents.
• Provide one-to-one advocacy, mentoring, and engagement.
• Rotating schedule including weekends or nights.
• Maintain high-quality communication with Street Worker Program management.
• Other assigned duties to support program success.
