Job summary

Varda Space Industries, Inc. is seeking a Senior Environmental Test Engineer in El Segundo to own vibration testing of spacecraft hardware.

You will design test approaches, validate readiness, and drive end-to-end campaigns from requirements review to data documentation, ensuring robustness for launch environments. Role requires hands-on test discipline, collaboration with structures, manufacturing and systems teams, and a focus on precision and safety in test operations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience with 3–6+ years in environmental testing, especially vibration testing.
• Experience authoring or executing vibration/environmental test procedures.
• Strong ability to manage priorities and communicate across multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Own vibration test planning and execution for spacecraft and space-grade components.
• Develop and improve vibration test procedures and documentation.
• Review requirements, test matrices, and specifications for complete coverage.
• Design or oversee vibration test fixtures meeting stiffness, mass, and interface needs.
• Coordinate between test operations and engineering groups during environmental tests.
• Identify fixture-interface issues and scheduling risks before hardware enters test queues.
• Lead on-floor vibration test operations with strict adherence to procedures and safety.
• Drive root-cause analysis for test anomalies and disposition MRBs with engineering.
• Review post-test data packages including plots and accelerometer data.
• Track test metrics and implement improvements to increase cadence.
• Define tooling and handling requirements for safe operations.
