Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician III (S) to work at the Columbus County Equipment Shop. This role maintains and repairs heavy-duty equipment, reads electrical and hydraulic schematics, and ensures safety and compliance while performing preventative maintenance.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED with repairs experience; EPA Type I-III or Universal certification may be required; valid driver’s license and ability to operate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3 years of repair experience, or equivalent.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal technician certification may be required.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
• Experience maintaining gasoline and diesel equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, repair, rebuild and diagnose mechanical and electrical systems on gasoline and diesel equipment.
• Read and follow electrical and hydraulic schematics to diagnose issues.
• Complete fuel and lube inventory and assist other technicians as needed.
• Prepare paperwork essential to employment and equipment repair.
