Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group in Michigan, Dearborn, is seeking a senior embedded software engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain software for Ford's vehicle controls engineering tools. You will work on C-based embedded systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The role requires extensive Linux experience, firmware debugging, and participation in release processes. You will create docs and training materials, support global users, and help drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in embedded software development or automotive control systems.
• Strong programming experience in C language with embedded systems background.
• Experience developing and debugging applications in Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong Linux system programming knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with Linux development tools (Make / Makefile, debugger).
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL databases and data structures.
• Experience with software configuration management and issue tracking (Jira).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and test software enhancements for Ford’s vehicle controls engineering tool.
• Collaborate with technical specialists to analyze requirements and deliver software change.
• Follow software change management and control processes to ensure quality release.
• Debug and troubleshoot application issues using Linux development tools.
• Provide global user support through email, phone, Webex, messaging, and direct interaction.
• Manage user accounts, access controls, and application permissions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, user manuals, and training material.
• Support training initiatives for global Ford engineering team.
• Participate in user forums and continuous improvement activities.
• Work with automotive calibration data management systems and control software tools.
