Jobtailor is seeking a Vegetation Management Inspector in Grass Valley, CA to support vegetation management efforts, inspect and audit contractor work, and coordinate clearance crews. Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • CTSP, TRAQ, OSHA 30 certifications encouraged.
  • Experience with GIS software and data collection devices preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Support Vegetation Management Inspectors as assigned.
  • Perform inspections, audits, and contractor performance monitoring.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate assigned tree clearance crews.
  • Serve as liaison between clients, tree crews, customers, public agencies, and PG&E contractors.
  • Resolve field obstacles and manage time and expenses to minimize rework and improve quality.
  • Manage daily activities, verify work scope, equipment use, and documentation.
  • Approve scheduling and scope changes with PG&E representative approval.
  • Promote and document safety, including Safety Observations and Good Catches.
  • Audit VMI work for compliance, field quality, and data integrity.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of VM Inspectors.
  • Support PG&E Work Verification activities.
  • Patrol distribution and transmission circuits and prescribe pruning, removal, and clearance work.
  • Assess trees for failure likelihood, hazards, and required trim or removal.
  • Ensure compliance with PG&E standards, permits, safety requirements, and laws.
  • Run reports and update data in PG&E VMDSRs.
  • Assist with outage, fire, incident, and customer claims investigations.
  • Support the local Operational Emergency Center as Vegetation Resource Coordinator when required.
  • Respond to emergencies according to safety requirements, laws, regulations, and labor agreements.
  • Maintain patrol documentation and identify Idle and Private Lines.
  • Report to the Operations Manager and monitor work group progress.

Job description

  • Maintain patrol documentation and identify newly identified Idle and Private Lines
  • Report to the Operations Manager and monitor work group progress
Requirements
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Grass Valley, CA
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must maintain a Class C driver’s license
  • One of the following experience levels: five years as a tree crew climber/tree crew foreman with at least two years of line clearance certification; five years as a Vegetation Management Inspector and Certified Arborist; five years as a Registered Professional Forester; five years as a Utility Inspector or higher classification with at least one year of vegetation management experience; or four years of military service with honorable discharge and at least one additional year of vegetation management inspection experience and PG&E Representative approval
  • Ability to identify local trees and knowledge of growth rates
  • Experience with data collection devices and GIS software desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work varied and rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Flexible schedule with availability nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to read and follow maps
  • Ability to learn company- or job-specific software systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • OSHA 30-hour construction safety overview, to be completed within six months of start date
  • CTSP or Certified Arborist certification with TRAQ certificate, to be completed within six months of test eligibility
  • 911 Standby training, QA/QC working knowledge, and computer training, to be completed within one month of start date
  • All hires subject to approval by PG&E representative
