Job summary

R Systems is seeking a Sr. VDI Engineer to design, support, and optimize VMware Horizon-based virtual desktop infrastructure across on-premises VMware and AWS environments.

You will own day-to-day operations, drive automation through Infrastructure as Code, and resolve complex end-user and platform issues. You will administer Horizon environments, implement Terraform provisioning, troubleshoot across the VDI stack, monitor health and performance, and document runbooks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware Horizon deployments in production.
• Hands-on familiarity or knowledge of vSphere, vCenter, and Aria Automation.
• Experience writing and managing Terraform for AWS and VMware stacks.
• Extensive troubleshooting across the VDI stack including performance analysis and root-cause investigation.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python scripting; familiarity with monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support VMware Horizon environments including connection servers, desktop pools, and load balancers.
• Automate provisioning and configuration of AWS and VMware infrastructure using Terraform.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across compute, storage, network, authentication, and display protocol performance.
• Monitor system health, capacity, and user experience; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive fixes.
• Maintain patching and upgrade lifecycles, and document runbooks and architecture.
