Job summary

GEM is seeking a senior investment professional to join our Investment Research Group and lead our venture capital secondaries and co-investment practice. This role reports to the Managing Director of Venture Capital and will source, evaluate, and execute secondary transactions and co-investment opportunities across the technology and venture capital landscape.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with strong academic performance; CFA or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years in VC, fund-of-funds, or institutional investing focused on technology; track record in secondaries and co-investments.
• Deep familiarity with VC and tech investment landscape, especially Bay Area.
• Ability to conduct industry research, articulate opinions, and make concise investment recommendations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to building a best-in-class VC program across primaries, secondaries and co-investments.
• Lead GEM's secondaries and co-investment practice and drive high-conviction investment recommendations.
• Identify and assess secondary market opportunities, including LP interest sales and structured liquidity solutions.
• Source and evaluate co-investment opportunities with GEM's venture capital and tech-focused managers.
• Lead underwriting and due diligence on secondary transactions and co-investments, including financial modeling and market analysis.
• Build relationships with top-tier venture capital managers and intermediaries in the Bay Area and beyond.
• Participate in capital formation activities and client-facing communications.
• Mentor junior investment professionals and contribute to the investment process and culture.
