Senior Investment Principal – San Francisco

Located in San Francisco, the Senior Investment Principal will be part of a diverse group requiring an additional team player with wide-ranging, client-facing responsibilities. The role focuses on existing client management and new client business development.

This multi-faceted position demands comfort in an entrepreneurial environment, analytical and creative strengths to implement our investment strategy, meticulous attention to detail, critical thinking, and an execution-oriented, positive attitude. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required for interactions with clients, third parties, and firm leadership.

Responsibilities

• Client Portfolio Management (50%):
  • Develop investment strategy leveraging firm insights and applying them to both day-to-day portfolio management and formal client presentations.
  • Provide general financial advice on topics such as estate planning, charitable giving, and external investment opportunities.
  • Assume a leadership role internally, focusing on team development and mentoring junior team members.
• Business Development (40%):
  • Build the firm’s business and brand on the West Coast with an entrepreneurial mindset across marketing and client development.
  • Research, identify, and track prospective clients, participating in the complete business development process.
  • Support innovation efforts in building new lines of business.
• Investment Research (10%): Occasionally responsible for due diligence of West Coast managers, including sourcing, monitoring new investments, and leading initial research meetings.
• Ensure adherence to information security processes, policies, and procedures, raising any concerns with the Cyber Security team.
• Maintain compliance with all local data protection regulations and privacy controls, escalating related issues appropriately.
• Oversee key responsibilities with the understanding that they may change over time; overtime may be required as needed.

Qualifications & Attributes

• 12+ years’ experience in a professional services role (e.g., management consulting, investment banking, asset management) or related field.
• Undergraduate degree with strong academic achievements; an advanced degree such as an MBA or professional certification (CFA, CAIA) is a plus.
• Excellent problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
• Strong quantitative skills and detail orientation.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
• Experience mentoring, training, and managing junior team members.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

Benefits and Compensation

California requires a reasonable estimate of the base salary range: $180,000 to $215,000 for San Francisco. The base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may be supplemented with performance‑based incentives and a profit‑share program.
