To meet business needs, this position requires availability starting at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time, but offers the flexibility to work from states located within the Central or Eastern Time zones.

Internally, the title of this role is Senior Software Developer. Developing APIs as well as expert-level experience in VB.NET and Windows-based application development is required.

The Senior Software Developer is a key position responsible for the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of Medmarc's core systems, including policy administration, claims administration, and billing systems for all Medmarc lines of business. This role also involves developing, maintaining, and managing interfaces that connect Medmarc's systems with critical platforms such as the broker web portal, HubSpot, Freedom, and the Workday financial system. This role will also work closely with corporate IT teams as well as vendors and consultants on IT projects. Additionally, this role includes learning and documenting proprietary business logic and system architecture to ensure continuity of knowledge as Medmarc transitions to future solutions and prepares for leadership succession.

What you'll do:

1. 30% - Application Development for Medmarc Core Systems
   • Design, develop, and maintain core Ebix modules, including underwriting and rating, claims, billing and cash receipts, entity management, policy forms, letter generation, and security.
   • Work with business users to gather and understand system enhancement requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
   • Drive operational excellence by developing innovative solutions that improve process efficiency and enable automation.
   • Maintain comprehensive documentation of Ebix technical architecture, design, development, and release processes.
   • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements throughout the development process.
2. 30% - Application Development for System Interfaces
   • Design, develop, and maintain interfaces connecting Medmarc’s core systems to external platforms such as the Medmarc secure portal, Workday Financials, data warehouses, and HubSpot.
   • Manage data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes into Medmarc’s data warehouse.
   • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data flow and interface performance issues.
3. 15% - Manage and maintain core system databases, servers, and configurations
   • Support database configurations, underwriting rating factors, and rate books.
   • Collaborate with IT teams on SQL databases, application servers, backups, and disaster recovery.
4. 15% - Manage other business solutions and processes
   • Maintain the Freedom Reinsurance system, configure treaties, and manage data extracts.
   • Execute and reconcile monthly reinsurance processes and financial tasks.
   • Serve as primary contact for audit reviews, ensuring data integrity and security.
5. 10% - Develop and maintain batch processing systems
   • Manage batch processes and related configurations.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering or computer science, or eight years of relevant experience.
• At least ten years of experience as a software programmer, preferably in the insurance industry.
• Experience in professional liability insurance preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of VB.NET, HTML5, C#, SQL, Json, and developing APIs.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated and proactive with strong interpersonal skills.
