Job description

Medical Device & Bioprocessing Manufacturing | Camarillo, CA

$100,000–$120,000 Base Salary | $10,000 Relocation Sign-On Bonus

Do you enjoy figuring out how to make products better, simpler, and less expensive to manufacture?

I'm recruiting an experienced engineer for a growing manufacturer of single-use products and systems used in the production of biologics, cell therapies, gene therapies, and vaccines.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the details of product design and manufacturing, challenging existing processes, and turning good engineering ideas into measurable business results.

You don't necessarily need to have held the title of VAVE Engineer. You do need to understand how engineering decisions affect manufacturing costs, product quality, and performance.

The Opportunity

You'll lead engineering initiatives focused on reducing product costs, improving manufacturability, and strengthening the supply chain.

Working with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, Quality, and suppliers, you'll identify opportunities, develop solutions, and drive projects through implementation.

Your work will include:

  • Product Cost Reduction: Identify and execute projects that reduce material, labor, and manufacturing costs.
  • Design Improvements: Apply DFM, DFA, and Design-to-Cost principles to simplify products and improve manufacturability.
  • Supplier & Sourcing Improvements: Evaluate alternative suppliers, second-source components, and Make vs. Buy opportunities.
  • Manufacturing Improvements: Improve processes, yields, equipment, and production efficiency.
  • Engineering Changes: Manage product and process changes, including design verification, validation, risk assessment, and documentation.
  • Project Leadership: Build the business case, coordinate cross-functional resources, and track measurable savings.

This is a hands-on technical leadership opportunity with real ownership of engineering projects and their financial results.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering functions, preferably involving plastic components or assemblies.
  • Demonstrated experience improving product costs, manufacturability, or manufacturing efficiency.
  • Understanding of DFM/DFA, engineering drawings, CAD models, and Bills of Materials.
  • Experience with engineering change control, design verification, and process validation.
  • Familiarity with risk management tools such as DFMEA and PFMEA.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or GMP environment.
  • Ability to independently lead technical projects and work effectively across multiple departments.
Particularly valuable experience includes:

Injection molding, plastic product design, medical devices, bioprocessing equipment, disposable assemblies, supplier qualification, product transfers, and capital equipment implementation.

You don't need to have done everything on this list. We're interested in engineers who have demonstrated the ability to identify problems, develop practical solutions, and deliver results.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

You'll have the opportunity to influence how products are designed, sourced, and manufactured—not simply maintain existing processes.

Your projects will have measurable financial and operational impact, and you'll work with products that support the manufacture of important therapies and medicines.

The company is growing, the engineering challenges are varied, and this position offers the opportunity to work across multiple technical and business disciplines.

Compensation & Location
  • Relocation Incentive: $10,000 sign-on bonus for candidates relocating
  • Location: Camarillo, California
  • Schedule: Full-time

If you're an engineer who enjoys finding smarter ways to design and manufacture products, I'd like to hear from you.
