Job Overview – Senior Valuation Manager (Alternative Investments):
Join our client’s investment team as a Senior Valuation Manager (Alternative Investments) in Chicago, IL (Hybrid), overseeing valuation processes for private market investments. This role is ideal for a finance professional with expertise in investment valuations, financial reporting, and alternative assets. You will lead valuation reviews, refine methodologies, and collaborate across teams to support accurate financial decision-making and compliance.

Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000/year + bonus
Location: Chicago, IL
Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)


Responsibilities as the Principal (Investment Valuation):
  • Valuation Oversight: Conduct quarterly valuations of illiquid securities across the capital structure.
  • Audit & Compliance: Lead valuation audits, third-party reviews, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Portfolio Analysis & Reporting: Prepare valuation materials and perform portfolio analyses.
  • Strategic Valuation Leadership: Serve as the firm’s expert on valuation methodologies and best practices.
  • Training & Development: Guide and train investment professionals on valuation preparation.
  • Technology & Data Management: Enhance iLevel reporting and ensure seamless data integration.
Qualifications for the Principal (Investment Valuation):
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting required.
  • Experience: 8+ years in financial reporting valuation at an independent valuation firm, accounting firm, or alternative investment firm.
  • Certifications: CFA, CPA, or CAIA preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge: Expertise in private equity and alternative investments, with a strong understanding of valuation methodologies and financial modeling.
  • Technical Proficiency:Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research related to valuation, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and preferred experience in Power BI.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build relationships, optimize processes, and manage large data volumes under strict deadlines.
