Job summary

Charles River Analytics, a GRVTY company, is seeking an engineering leader to mentor a team and deliver robust software solutions with a strong emphasis on UX and human-computer interaction. You will guide projects across the full software development lifecycle, collaborate with UX researchers, software engineers, and customers, and shape the technical direction of proposals.

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience; DoD exposure preferred.
  • Hybrid work model with 60% onsite in Cambridge, MA.

  • Experience leading test and evaluation events.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps across the SDLC.
  • Experience working with multi-performer teams on large-scale integrations.

This is an excellent opportunity to lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team to design and develop robust, aesthetic software solutions with a particular focus on user experience (UX) and human-computer interaction. We are looking for candidates who want to continue to use their technical skills while providing technical leadership across projects. You will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of UX research leads, software engineers, subject matter experts, and customers, using modern web, desktop, and mobile frameworks to architect and develop cutting-edge visualizations and interactions. You will use your experience to shape the engineering direction in terms of feasibility, ideal technology, optimization, and other system-level details.

What will you do?
  • Provide engineering leadership (mentoring, code reviews, task definition and direction, technology selection, architecture definition, process improvement, etc.) across projects that range in scope and complexity
  • Work with Principal Investigators to understand, define, and prioritize technical requirements and track them effectively in GitLab
  • Understand and execute on the entire software development lifecycle (requirements management, development, merge requests, testing, deployment) and mentor junior engineers in their understanding and execution
  • Architect scalable, robust software systems in response to customer and program requirements
  • Build direct, collaborative relationships with our customers and external partners
  • Lead technical elements of proposals for new research and development programs
What technologies do we use?
  • Cloud/Virtualization: Docker, AWS EC2, VM Ware, OpenShift Virtualization
  • Development workflow: Vite, npm, yarn, gradle.
  • Issue Tracking: GitLab
  • Version Control: Git
  • XR Hardware: Oculus Quest, Hololens, HTC Vive or other Steam VR HMDs
What do you need?
  • Ability to work in a Hybrid (60%) onsite capacity in Cambridge, Massachusetts
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, ideally with exposure to the full software development lifecycle. Experience in DoD preferred
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to support customer briefings and integration/test events
  • Experience with (preferably leading) test and evaluation events
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices across the entire software development lifecycle
  • Understanding of working with multi-performer teams on large-scale integration efforts
Salary Range

$160,000 - $210,000

The above projected salary range is an estimate based on the internal job level(s) for which this role is being considered. The final salary will be decided after careful evaluation of the individual's work experience, education, and overall qualifications. This range does not include the substantial total rewards, as listed below, that you will also be eligible for as an employee at Charles River Analytics.
