Job summary

Google, Mountain View, CA, seeks a Senior UX Researcher to join the LearnX team and identify opportunities across Gemini, NotebookLM, Labs, and YouTube. You will collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to uncover user needs and steer product development with rigorous research.

You will conduct field studies, diaries, interviews, surveys, usability tests, and logs analysis, guiding decisions and building a strong user-centered strategy for learning products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquires, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies).

Responsibilities

  • Drive an impactful research agenda focused on LearnX's new product initiatives.
  • Identify emerging product opportunities by understanding user needs and the competitive landscape to help teams achieve product-market fit.
  • Lead a continuous research program that provides foundational and iterative insights to product innovation teams.
  • Partner with designers, product managers, engineers, and other teams to inform product decisions, and assist in organizing research events and design sprints.
  • Leverage storytelling to communicate research findings and advocate for a user-focused perspective in product discussions and strategic planning.

Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • Experience with large-scale surveys design and analysis.
  • Experience working with educational products.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent people management, communication, and collaboration skills.

You’ll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. As a Senior UX Researcher on the LearnX team, you will lead research to identify product opportunities for learners across Gemini, NotebookLM, Labs, and YouTube. Your work will advance GenAI investments for students and guide the user experience.

US: $159000 - $230000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
