Job summary

SpaceX is hiring a Utility Operator Specialist for its Starbase, TX facility. The role focuses on monitoring, keeping equipment reliable, and proactively addressing potential issues before failures occur.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in electrical, instrumental controls, and machinery operation, plus 4+ years of automated process experience. Willingness to work varied shifts and coordinate across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering technology and 4+ years of experience in automated processes; OR a high school diploma and 6+ years in control room/plant operations or instrumentation/electrical operations.
• Experience with reading P&ID and schematic diagrams is preferred.
• Solid understanding of process parameters and engineering units for temperature, pressure, flow, and power.

Responsibilities

• Identify equipment and process deviations and perform corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate process equipment including compressors, gas analyzers, control systems and valves.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to implement fluid and mechanical designs in the field.
• Create operating procedures with engineers and technicians.
• Coordinate resources across disciplines to support builds.
• Maintain a mature hardware inventory system including procurement of critical spares.
