Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Lead Engineer, Utility in Rockford, IL or Elyria, OH. You will serve as the technical authority for high-voltage test and measurement solutions and influence product direction and system-level design decisions.

You will lead field deployments, train end users, and collaborate with product managers, design engineers, and customers to deliver reliable capabilities for utility professionals. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
8 years of professional engineering experience with at least 5 years in power transmission and distribution.
Hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment in utility or industrial settings.
Strong communication skills.
Willingness to travel ~25% with up to 50% at times.
Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

Serve as the technical authority for the utility product category and be the primary technical contact.
Collaborate with Product Management to align strategy and translate customer needs into requirements.
Conduct field visits with end users, distributors, and service teams to gather insights.
Develop and maintain validation standards, test methods, and pass/fail criteria.
Ensure designs meet category standards and are validated through analysis and testing.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
Lead sustaining engineering, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Stay informed on industry standards and incorporate advances into development.
Represent the category in cross-functional reviews across disciplines.
