Job summary

Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Utility Engineer to provide engineering and technical support for a portfolio of utility Substation capital projects. The role partners with Project Managers and external consultants to ensure deliverables progress on schedule and meet utility standards.

Strong collaboration and communication are essential. The position involves coordinating design reviews, field visits, and documentation to support project execution.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience supporting electric utility Substation projects.
  • Strong understanding of Substation engineering principles and utility project delivery.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical documents, and design packages.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Willingness to travel onsite up to two times per month.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering deliverables between internal stakeholders and external firms.
  • Review drawings, design packages, and technical documentation for substation projects.
  • Provide engineering updates in project meetings and coordinate field coordination.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and engineering execution with Project Managers.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities for improved execution.
  • Assist with issue resolution between engineering, construction, and project management teams.
  • Ensure deliverables align with utility standards and project objectives.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to support progression and field coordination.

Position Summary

The Utility Engineer will provide engineering and technical support for a portfolio of utility Substation capital projects. This individual will partner closely with ProjectManagers, Engineering Consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure engineering deliverables are progressing according to schedule, meet utility standards, and support successful project execution. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment, possesses strong communication skills, and can effectively coordinate engineering activities between internal teams and external engineering firms.


Scope of Services


  • Engineering CoordinationReview engineering drawings, design packages, specifications, and technical documentation for Substation projects.

  • Coordinate engineering deliverables between internal stakeholders and external engineering firms.

  • Support engineering reviews to ensure compliance with utility standards and project requirements.

  • Assist Project Managers with technical issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Project SupportPartner with Project Managers to support project planning, scheduling, and engineering execution.

  • Monitor engineering milestones and ensure deliverables remain on schedule.

  • Participate in project meetings and provide engineering updates.

  • Assist with identifying project risks, constraints, and opportunities for improved execution.

  • Consultant & Stakeholder CoordinationServe as the primary engineering liaison between utility personnel and external engineering firms.

  • Coordinate design reviews and engineering discussions.

  • Conduct periodic site visits with engineering consultants to support project progression and field coordination.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal departments and project stakeholders.

  • Field SupportParticipate in onsite project visits to review project progress and coordinate with engineering consultants.

  • Verify engineering activities align with project objectives and utility standards.

  • Support issue resolution between engineering, construction, and project management teams.

  • Documentation & StandardsReview engineering documentation for accuracy and completeness.

  • Ensure engineering deliverables follow utility standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.

  • Learn and apply company engineering processes and standards to project execution.

  • Support continuous improvement of engineering documentation and workflows.


Required Qualifications


  • 5+ years experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline. (I am personally targeting + years but if I find a rockstar with 5 ill consider them)

  • Experience supporting electric utility Substation projects.

  • Strong understanding of Substation engineering principles and utility project delivery.

  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, technical documents, and design packages.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

  • Willingness to travel onsite up to two (2) times per month.
