The Senior UI/UX Designer
Location: Must live in NC, NY, NH, CT, FL, or CA. Office: fully remote; if in NC, onsite once a month. Company Location: Greensboro, NC. NOT OPEN to sponsorship or visa applicants.
Essential Function and Responsibilities
- End-to-End Experience Design: Design exceptional and intuitive experiences across web and mobile platforms, focused on product discovery, shopping, checkout, and post-purchase experiences.
- Supporting feature iterations through an agile, iterative design process, rapidly refining solutions based on user feedback and evolving business needs.
- Conversion Optimization: Apply best practices in e-commerce design to guide customers through the sales funnel, utilizing UX patterns for upselling, cross‑selling, and personalized recommendations.
- User Research & Usability Testing: Conduct customer interviews, heatmap analysis, A/B testing, and usability studies to uncover pain points and identify opportunities for increased engagement and sales.
- Design Systems: Create and maintain design systems and reusable component libraries that support merchandising, promotions, seasonal campaigns, and scalability.
- Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across merchandising, marketing, engineering, and analytics to align design strategies with business goals and KPIs.
- Performance Analysis: Support validation and monitor key e-commerce metrics—such as conversion rate, cart abandonment, and average order value—to best inform design decisions.
- Accessibility: Ensure all designs are fully responsive, accessible, and compliant with relevant e-commerce regulations.
Education & Experience
5+ years of experience in UI/UX/Product Design, with a strong portfolio showcasing e-commerce or retail projects.
- Deep understanding of online retail user behavior, conversion optimization, and digital merchandising.
- Mastery of design tools Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc. and prototyping platforms.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and drive alignment across marketing, engineering, and business teams.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in presenting design solutions that drive business outcomes.
- Solid grasp of responsive and accessible design for e-commerce.
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or related discipline.
- Master’s degree in a design, technology, or business-related field is a plus.
- Formal UX/UI certifications and ongoing professional development are preferred.
- Experience with accessibility standards and analytics-driven design approaches preferred.
Qualifications
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX process—research, wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and final UI—with measurable outcomes (conversion, engagement, etc.).
- Demonstrated expertise in designing within established design systems; experience building or evolving design systems is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, human behavior, and usability standards for large-scale digital products.
- Hands‑on experience conducting and interpreting user research, usability testing, A/B testing, and data analytics to inform design decisions.
- Familiarity with web and mobile accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ADA) and inclusive design best practices.
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Exposure to e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, etc.) or experience working with cross‑sell, up‑sell, and personalized merchandising solutions is a plus.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and/or front‑end frameworks is advantageous but not required.
- Experience with retail platforms (e.g., Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud) and integrations.
- Must be available to work onsite or remotely during standard business hours (9am–5pm), maintain accountability for timely deliverables, and collaborate closely with the manager and broader team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing mobile‑first and responsive web pages.
- Ability to rapidly generate and produce multiple concepts and solutions.
- Experience with both qualitative and quantitative testing.
- Proficiency with design and prototyping software such as Adobe, Sketch, Figma and Invision.
- Knowledge of UX best practices and trends.
- Strong understanding of information hierarchy and typography.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Understanding of how data and qualitative research inform product and design decisions.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies to create intuitive and user-friendly designs.
- Expertise in using design tools such as Sketch, Figma, and Adobe XD to create wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity mockups.
- Strong skills in interaction design and information architecture to define and document design details through process flows, site maps, wireframes, and functional specifications.
- Experience with usability testing and user research methods to gather insights.
