Google is seeking a seasoned software engineer to lead the Fuchsia USB subsystem, ensuring reliable integration with prototype hardware and production environments. You will own the USB stack, drive performance optimizations, and coordinate with other platform drivers to deliver production-grade drivers.

The role requires deep USB knowledge, debugging expertise, and a track record of stabilizing complex hardware-software interfaces for large-scale deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with Linux device drivers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design of the Fuchsia USB subsystem and drive system-level optimizations for USB-C PD and USB 3.x metrics.
• Utilize infrastructure labs and hardware-in-the-loop testing to maximize driver reliability and throughput across a wide ecosystem of USB devices.
• Address complex system-level bugs at the hardware/software interface with protocol analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Define best practices for driver development and mentor team members to raise technical standards.
• Partner with kernel, product, and hardware teams to align hardware integration with product roadmaps.
