Job summary

Google is seeking a senior software engineer to own the Fuchsia USB subsystem, driving a high-performance stack and collaborating with kernel, product, and hardware teams. You will stabilize complex hardware-software interfaces and ship production-grade drivers for a broad ecosystem of USB devices.

This role requires deep USB knowledge, system-level debugging skills, and the ability to work across platform domains. Opportunities span prototype hardware to production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience with Linux device drivers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design of the Fuchsia USB subsystem, driving system-level power management and data throughput optimizations.
• Leverage infrastructure labs to maximize driver reliability and throughput, using hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Address the most complex system-level bugs at the hardware/software interface using analyzers and debuggers.
• Define best practices for driver development and mentor team members to raise the technical bar.
• Partner closely with kernel, product, and hardware teams to align hardware integration with roadmaps.
