Job summary

Highmark Inc. is seeking a senior leader to oversee underwriting operations, serving as the primary liaison to sales and customers. The role drives insights to support customer acquisition and retention while ensuring regulatory compliance and timely delivery.

You will guide team development, monitor quality and response times, and execute the underwriting strategy across complex books of business, with ongoing communication to leadership about metrics and issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business, Computer Science, Science, Technology, or other quantitative analysis discipline.
• 7 years of underwriting, risk management, or actuarial experience applying advanced mathematics or quantitative analysis.
• 5 years of external client interaction or comparable external interactions.
• 5 years of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Hire, coach, develop, reward, and evaluate staff; manage productivity.
• Direct daily operations with budgetary responsibility and policy implementation.
• Develop and refresh region-level or functional book management strategies.
• Coordinate with regional Sales leadership to anticipate client needs and plan workload.
• Provide guidance and insights for critical clients and strategic initiatives.
• Drive portfolio results toward strategic goals and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
• Oversee risk management, issue resolution, and policy governance across underwriting.
• Collaborate with other functions to align underwriting with company strategy.
