Starr is seeking an Underwriting Counsel to develop policy language for new products, manuscript endorsements, and coverage philosophy in a fast-paced environment. You will work with clients on underwriting issues and assist in drafting agreements with partners and vendors.

Required are a law degree and active bar admission, plus extensive P&C underwriting experience. The role is based in Chicago with a strong emphasis on legal risk assessment and strategic analysis.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and JD from ABA-accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice law and member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.
• 15 years of insurance industry experience, primarily in underwriting, compliance and operations for P&C products.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial insurance products, product rating/administration systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with Legora, CoCounsel or equivalent legal AI platform.

Mansioni

• Assist in the development of new products, forms and services.
• Support for admitted and nonadmitted products in retail and wholesale channels.
• Assist in processing manuscript endorsements.
• Address coverage issues to facilitate closing of business opportunities.
• Participate in development and execution of business development strategies.
• Stay current on industry and product-related claims and coverage issues.
