Job Description: Part-Time Remote with occasional travel, $42-$56.75 Per hour, Equipment provided.

Our client is seeking a senior life insurance underwriter. You will us your expertise to determine insurability as well as premium classification utilizing tools available including medical history, financial verification and various third party vendor provided reports.

You will be accountable for managing assigned work, developing agency relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction at the highest level.

Responsibilities

• Recognize and obtain requirements necessary in evaluating risks, consistently using a comprehensive approach (a “broadened view” of the entire case to forecast all needs and requirements at onset)
• Evaluate medical, financial, and non-medical information, as developed, to determine the risk classification according to company guidelines.
• Collaborate with our reinsurers to negotiate and secure risk classification for business that may exceed our mortality standards, exceed our corporate retention, and/or for the benefit of securing a more competitive offer.
• Communicate with field partners and home office personnel for the purpose of acquiring necessary information, solving problems, negotiating appeals, and conveying decisions in a polite, confident, and professional manner.

As our Senior Life Underwriter, you will report to our Underwriting Manager, who reports to our Lead of Underwriting Operations

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in individual life underwriting
• Knowledge of underwriting manuals, MIB (Medical Information Bureau) reporting, and various risk assessment vendor tools
• An aptitude for risk assessment, collaboration, and customer service
• The ability to think divergently.
• Knowledge of individual life insurance products/processes
• Analytical, Negotiation, Written and Oral communication skills.
• Exceptional decision-making skills and organizational and time management skills
