Job summary

Honeycomb is hiring for a hybrid underwriting role based in California, with Roseville office days in the mix. You will drive habitational and specialty property insurance decisions, leveraging AI and data-driven tools to price and issue policies.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in underwriting, strong communication, and a curiosity-driven approach. The role offers flexible PTO, 401K, and employee options, with travel less than 20%.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of underwriting/insurance experience with Commercial Habitational and Specialty Property experience is valued.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.
• AI proficiency and desire to seek automation opportunities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Quote and release new and renewal for habitational business that has been referred from underwriting algorithm or requires changes beyond authority thresholds.
• Analyze and approve requested policy changes across the Habitational portfolio.
• Maintain familiarity with state insurance regulations and ISO rules for states within assigned underwriting territory.
• Maintain open communications with team members and interdivisional partners.
• Monitor portfolio composition via reports, audits and inspections.
• Support marketing efforts to build and promote Honeycomb.
• Complete special projects and assignments.
• Travel <20% as needed.

What You'll Do

Next-generation risk assessment – divesting from binary underwriting and revisioning risk selection utilizing mega data, AI and curiosity. Modernized underwriting using cutting edge technology to more accurately and quickly assess risk, price and bespoke coverage/terms to profitably grow and manage a book of business spanning Habitational and Lessor's Risk Only (LRO) package and excess liability. Basic Requirements

• 4+ years of underwriting/insurance experience with Commercial Habitational and Specialty Property experience is a valued addition to that background, not a standalone requirement
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience preferred
• Retail agency relationship preferred
• AI Proficiency and desire to seek automation and efficiency opportunities
• Curiosity, hardworking, self-accountable, positive attitude, humble and fun
• Have an opinion, share your opinion and be open to other opinions
• Passion to obtain, retain and employ knowledge – as well as share knowledge

• Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 (Pending Experience) + Bonus
