Job summary

JCW Group is seeking an Underwriter Support in NYC to join our analytics-driven reinsurer team. You will analyse underwriting performance, challenge pricing and strategy, and report to senior management.

The role collaborates with underwriting, pricing, risk and reserving teams to identify opportunities and risks, and to benchmark the portfolio against market peers. Applicants should bring 5+ years in insurance with reinsurance experience, a Math or Actuarial degree (actuarial qualification

• 5+ years of insurance experience, including reinsurance.
• Degree in Mathematics or Actuarial Science; actuarial qualification preferred.
• Experience in actuarial, analytics or portfolio teams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge underwriters.
• Experience with analytical tools; Power BI is a plus.

A global reinsurer, part of a leading international insurance group, is expanding its Analytics team and is seeking a Underwriter Support in NYC team. This position offers the opportunity to analyse underwriting performance, provide constructive challenge to underwriting teams and report directly to senior management.

• Prepare analysis and documentation for annual and class portfolio reviews.
• Challenge underwriting teams on strategy, performance and pricing adequacy.
• Monitor key performance indicators and track results against business plans.
• Work with Underwriting, Pricing, Risk and Reserving teams to identify areas of concern and opportunity.
• Conduct market research to benchmark the portfolio.

Requirements

• 5+ years of insurance experience, with reinsurance experience essential.
• Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science or a related field. Actuarial qualification or data science background preferred.
• Experience in actuarial, analytics or portfolio teams.
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence underwriters.
• Proficiency in analytical tools. Power BI is a plus.
