Pay Philosophy

The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for similar roles across the national market and offers opportunities for growth as employees develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual may include a compensation plan with commission and/or bonus earnings, which vary based on multiple factors outlined in the plan.

There are 2 openings, and at least one candidate is preferred to live and work remotely in the Mountain or Pacific Time Zone.

This is a ranged posting. The level offered will be based on the candidate's experience and at the manager's discretion.

As an Underwriter in National Partnerships within property casualty insurance, you will develop and maintain diversified books of business, collaborate with agents and brokers to assess risks, determine premiums, set conditions, and negotiate deals to maximize profitability and meet business goals.

We have openings on our Small Commercial National Partnerships Team, where you can influence the growth and profitability of our Alternative Distribution partners. You'll work with a nationwide team, impacting multiple states, and contributing to innovative solutions in this space.

  • Strategic Account Manager: Managing a portfolio of Property and Casualty insurance, typically with premiums of $100,000 or below, while building successful agent and broker relationships and pursuing renewals.
  • Problem solver: Analyzing data to determine risk, premiums, policies, and identifying opportunities for growth and diversification.
  • Clear communicator: Maintaining relationships with agents and brokers, presenting proposals, negotiating, and obtaining approvals.
  • Collaborative teammate: Mentoring underwriters, sharing best practices, and seeking continuous improvement.
  • Conscientious professional: Completing documentation, ensuring compliance, and following underwriting guidelines.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience
  • Experience with multi-line insurance products
  • Countrywide experience preferred, but not required

  • Proficiency with technology and API capabilities

Knowledge

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter or similar designation preferred
