Job summary

Gravie is seeking a technically skilled Underwriter to evaluate and price our Comfort health plan and level-funded products. You will leverage Gravie’s underwriting engine, claims data, demographics, and utilization to deliver competitive pricing proposals.

You will work with Sales, Account Management, and Product to refine plan designs and drive underwriting best practices in a tech-forward environment. This position requires 3–5 years of underwriting experience and a relevant bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years underwriting experience with stop loss or level-funded health plans
• Proven ability to underwrite standard and moderately complex cases
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Insurance or related majors
• Strong analytical and technical skills
• The ability to confidently communicate with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload while meeting performance expectations across turnaround time, productivity, accuracy, pricing integrity, and block profitability
• Independently use Gravie’s underwriting engine to produce and modify rating output for small and mid-sized groups
• Rate level funded plans and provide pricing with first level pricing concession and plan design exception authority
• Apply underwriting guidelines and risk assessment tools to evaluate group health plan risks
• Communicate rates and plans quoted along with recommendations on strategic positioning of quote or renewal to Sales and Account Management
• Use claims data, demographics, and utilization to make informed pricing decisions
• Maintain underwriting documentation and compliance with regulations and internal controls
• Participate in training to develop and enhance knowledge of underwriting methodologies, funding options, products, legislation, competitors and to ensure compliance with company and departmental policies
